Crawling Video

She's crawling!!

My little girl has discovered her freedom - she's crawling! She's been wanting to crawl for sooo long, I could tell she was getting very close. We worked on it earlier today and I got her to take 1-2 "steps" but then after that she'd just collapse to her belly. We took a break to eat lunch and run errands, then when we got back we tried again. I set Bailey's leash out in front of her, and she started off for it. Next thing I knew she crawled 5 steps! Such a big girl. I praised the heck out of her, she thought she was pretty hot stuff.

Kate had her 9 month checkup this week. All is going well! She weighed 20 pounds 14 ounces, which puts her in the 85th percentile for weight. She is 29 1/8 inches long, which puts her in the 95th percentile for length. Her head is 17 1/4 inches, which puts her in the 50th percentile for head size. She is reaching all of her developmental milestones right on time!

She is also getting better at pulling up. Watch this, mom!

Poor Kate!

Yesterday she got her first battle wound from daycare.



They said she was just playing on the floor happily when another kid came over and just bit her! They said he has never bitten before so they don't know what the heck happened. They said they punished him etc, they felt so bad for little Kate! They said she took it like a champ, and was comforted easily. But poor thing!

I have a couple videos I took tonight at dinnertime of my sweetie. First, she kept clapping for herself while she ate. So cute!



Next, she does her classic "num num num" that she always says everytime she eats.



I thought I'd also throw in a picture of her playing with her favorite toy. Such a big girl!

Bath Drama Part II

So I was hoping that tonight Kate's bath would go better since she was feeling well. I sat her in the bather go round thing, and she started crying! She didn't flip out, but I could tell she was scared to death. I tried to comfort her through the fear, but she kept standing up wanting me to get her the HECK out of there. I picked her up and took the bath cushion out and sat her in the tub, and she was happy as a clam. Whatever!!!

So I guess she has a fear of big cushiony/floaty things that surround her? First the duck tub and now this? It makes me sad that she might not enjoy the pool this summer because she's scared of floaty things??

So anyway I guess she'll just graduate straight to the big girl tub and I'll have to lean over the tub holding her making sure she doesn't drown herself! ha.

In other news, I think I figured out that Kate has/had Roseola. A girl on my mommy message board suggested that it might be that - her son had it around Kate's age. I looked it up, and sure enough the symptoms are a fever around 103 lasting 3-7 days, upper respiratory cold, decreased appetite, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck. (ALL of which the Pediatrician commented on when we visited!) Then the biggest tip-off is that when the fever breaks, a rash appears. Kate had a rash on her cheeks on Wednesday, calves on Thursday, and her forehead today. So I think the mystery is solved! And the good news is that once the rash appears, Roseola is pretty much done. So, on to good health for Kate, we pray!

Nine Months and First Tantrum

Kate is 9 months old today! Wow. I'm sorry for my absence as of late, but Kate has been very sick this week. From Monday through today, Kate has been running a 103 degree fever. Even alternating Motrin and Tylenol every three hours, it still wouldn't come below 103. Her fever finally broke today though, thankfully, so I'm praying it stays away. She has just had more than her fair share of sickness this winter. I can't wait until Spring.

For good reason, Kate had a pretty rough day today. She was not into her photo shoot.



Which leads into Kate's first tantrum. We have had so much trouble with bathtime lately. She has always LOVED her baths, but ever since she's gotten too big for her infant tub, we've had one heck of a time trying to get her to accept a bath via any other method besides infant tub. First we tried an inflatable ducky tub, but she was scared to death of the duck head and screamed when I put her in it.



I tried the bumbo, but she's too fat for it! So I found this Bather-Go-Round and was so excited. I just knew it would be the perfect solution for Kate. I put her in it, and she liked it well enough at first.



That is, until I gently leaned her back to wash her hair. (I've done this before, so it was nothing new..) She FLIPPED out. Totally completely flipped out. Arched her back, flailing limbs, inconsolable, the whole 9 yards. Oy.

I don't know why she's having a hard time adjusting to change in the bath tub. I suppose the fact that she's been so sick probably didn't help things but seriously, I just want her to enjoy her baths again!

She's so Smart!

Well, I don't think it's a coincidence anymore! Tonight when Kate was done with dinner and I signed and said 'all done' for her, she said, "Ah dahh!" That's gotta be real! :) My smarty pants!

Not much to report here, other than Kate has a cold again. But really, is that anything new?

Big girl!

Kate took one step closer to crawling today! She is now able to get up on her knees (getting her belly off the floor) and rock! Prior to today she hasn't been able to do that! What a big girl.

The other thing she did today was at dinner, who knows if it was just a coincidence, but when she was finished I signed "all done" for her, and as usual I said "Kate is all done!" And she repeated, "Ah dahh" like she was trying to say all done! Who knows?
