Growing Up

I can't believe we're only a few weeks from Kate's first birthday! I need to get going on her party plans! We've been busy around here. Kate has been in and out of the doctor the last few months - we are having a really hard time getting (and keeping) her well. We are on our third allergy med, and just a few days ago she came down with strep throat, so it's just one thing after another. We are hoping we can get her well, and KEEP her well. Hopefully the warmer weather will bring that.

Kate is making leaps and bounds developmentally. A couple weeks ago she wasn't ready to walk behind her push toy, but I tried it again today and she's a pro! Look at her go!

Second, as evidenced by the bluebonnet picture with her Baby, Kate is very loving towards her buddies, animals, people she loves, etc. She loves to give hugs and kisses! I got her a new baby animals book for Easter. She found the puppy page right away, and started loving on the puppy!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Bluebonnets

I've been looking for a field of bluebonnets to take pictures of Kate in for the last couple weeks, and I finally found one, very close to home!

New Pictures

Tonight Kate finished her 10 day course of antibiotics. She has been getting better steadily, hopefully she will stay healthy! I haven't taken a whole lot of pictures of her in the last two months or so, mainly because when she's not feeling well, she doesn't look that great either, plus she'd always have snot running down her face! I've been taking pictures like crazy the last few days because she's so happy, and finally her nose is clearing up. She's starting to look like such a big girl. I can't believe we're just over a month from her first birthday. I can't believe how quickly the "baby" thing goes away. I'm sad but excited for her at the same time. It's so rewarding to see her grow and learn new things every day. Her newest thing is that she's starting to whistle! It all started because when she's excited she breathes in and out really hard and fast, and in the last day or two I noticed that she's forming her mouth in a pucker when she does it, and I can hear a faint whistle sound! I whistle back at her to make her aware of what she's doing, and it seems to be working... We'll see if she can keep it going!

Grandma and Grandpa Blair and Uncle Pat came down for the weekend. It was great to have them and Kate had fun playing with them!

I'm starting to have issues with Kate's hair. It's getting to a ragged stage where it's out of control! Her bangs are starting to get long so they hang in her eyes, so I'm constantly on the look out for a clip that will actually stay in her hair and be functional! She definitely looks cute with it pulled back in a clip though! :)

This is an adorable little Polo dress my friend Courtney gave us last summer, just after Kate was born. I couldn't wait until she'd fit into it, and she finally does!

She also had one big milestone today - her first ponytail! I didn't think her hair would be long enough to do it, but it was! She looks like such a big girl!

Girl Talk

Sorry it has been so long since my last post! I don't have any new pictures tonight. I've taken a few in the last week or so, but I don't have the energy to upload them tonight. The only thing that's "new" is that both Kate and I have been sick. Poor Kate has been sick on and off for about a month, so we went to the Pediatrician last Friday. She tested negative for everything, so they gave us some Amoxicilin to clear up whatever infection she has going on - they said most likely a sinus infection. I, on the other hand, came down with something about a week and a half ago. I was just starting to feel normal this weekend, and all of a sudden overnight last night it hit me again. I am SO over this winter. It's been the worst our family has seen, that's for sure! I just wish we could all be healthy for once.

Kate has been making leaps and bounds. She is getting so fast at crawling, and she is cruising all over the place. It's like once she figured out how to pull up on things, she wants to be standing and cruising all the time! I think I've mentioned another baby at daycare, Jaelyn, who is one month older thank Kate. They nap in the same room now. It's funny how early girl talk starts - Kathy and Jennifer (the girls that keep Kate) said that Kate and Jaelyn jabber back and forth for 30-45 minutes when they lay them down for their nap! They said it's hilarious to hear them respond back and forth to each other. So cute! I love it.

New Boat!

Jeff and I bought a boat today! We are so excited. Jeff has always wanted a boat, and I was happy to oblige. We can't wait to get out and use it! We need to find Kate a baby lifejacket, then we can take her out for a (SLOW) tour around the lake!

Kate got sick over the weekend again. I think it's croup again - she ran 102 fever and threw up a few times, then yesterday her signature croupy cough came back. Poor thing. She's just never ever well. :( I'm SO ready for cold and flu season to be over!

She's crawling!!

My little girl has discovered her freedom - she's crawling! She's been wanting to crawl for sooo long, I could tell she was getting very close. We worked on it earlier today and I got her to take 1-2 "steps" but then after that she'd just collapse to her belly. We took a break to eat lunch and run errands, then when we got back we tried again. I set Bailey's leash out in front of her, and she started off for it. Next thing I knew she crawled 5 steps! Such a big girl. I praised the heck out of her, she thought she was pretty hot stuff.

Kate had her 9 month checkup this week. All is going well! She weighed 20 pounds 14 ounces, which puts her in the 85th percentile for weight. She is 29 1/8 inches long, which puts her in the 95th percentile for length. Her head is 17 1/4 inches, which puts her in the 50th percentile for head size. She is reaching all of her developmental milestones right on time!

She is also getting better at pulling up. Watch this, mom!
